I felt a very deep satisfaction today when a plumber came to my new apartment and did about 500$ worth of work (I should know, I have payed plenty of plumbers lately), and I didn't have to pay a penny! (Or should I say I didn't feel like I paid a penny, but I do pay rent so I do pay for it.)

Bear Lake was indeed fun. I got a royal sunburn on my back. Ouch.
Family is still in town.
I am still moving in/getting settled. Arg.

My family has been in town.
We are off to Bear Lake tomorrow until Sunday. It should be fun.

Finished moving in, but no internet at the apartment yet and using my laptop at the library is excruciatingly slow (am I spoiled or what?).
Been listening to Room With A View on audio tape and it is quite hilarious if a little didactic. What modern book isn't?

I moved part of my stuff into my new apartment today and will finish tomorrow. Wahoo.
The most exciting news however, is that the next U2 album (that I am looking forward to more than this last one) might be out by December.

Lisa and I did see Henry V at the Shakespearian festival and we hiked Zion Narrows the next day. The water was cold and it was tough on the ankles, but the scenery was great and it was a cool adventure. All in all it was a glorious weekend.
Now I am cleaning out my current apartment and getting ready to move into a new one.

I'm off to the Shakespearian festival with Lisa! We are going to see Henry V and hike in Zions Narrows the next day. Wahoo.

I applied for two jobs today. One editing positing already called me for an impromptu interview and I'm afraid I tried my best, but was not very good. I needed to review some job stuff before I turned in applications, but I did not expect such quick responses to the applications.

So me and two friends found a place in Salt Lake to live yesterday. Six month lease was the biggest draw for me. It is hard to find a place that has less than a year lease and with my life so up in the air (which is getting really old!), I don't know where I'll be or where I'll want to be. We'll be moving in later this month. I'm feeling really restless and unsettled and this six month move won't solve it, but it might be a calm period in the restless feeling.

Getting some plumbing fixed in the apartment today-392$. Ouch. Just to replace two cartridges in the tub and sink. Last time it was fixed in the other bathroom it cost about half that much. He also tried to get me to check the water heater. It would be two hundred extra to do that. Ouch. I tell you it pays to be a plumber in a recession. And this didn't even fix the dishwasher problem. The seal is bad and it is leaking. Ugh. The blinds are also broken. Managing a place helps you realize just how expensive things are to do. I really should have called around to get estimates; it really does help get the best price, at least in the past. I should've done it.

So I was watching a Bones episode and it was funny because the guy who plays Roy on The Office was playing a guy who was engaged to a girl who jilted him because she was "involved" with another man. Typecast already:)
Oh and Dwight was on one of the CSI type show episodes.

I wish I could go to this college. My thesis might fit in here seeing how it doesn't at BYU.

Eating Pringles makes me sicker than a dog. That's too bad because they are one of the best tasting chips around (along with Sun Chips).

By the way, where did that phrase sicker than a dog come from? Am I imagining things?

So a guy stopped by the Provo apartment to see my 23-year old neice Amy and when I answered the door, he asked if I was her mom. Nice.

Last night was the ward activity: a dance. I was dreading it with all the memories of stake dances growing up. Needless to say I only went to those for about a year. I hated dances. But people on my committee wanted to do it and were really excited about doing it, so who am I as the activities co-chair to stop them? (However, I will stop the Mr. Millstream ward contest they want to do.) I think being thirty-something helps to not care as much. Also my reputation in the ward is already established as being a weird person, so I figured I couldn't do anymore damage. I danced, made a fool of myself, and it really wasn't that bad. There was a Michael Jackson tribute song of course, and the typical Journey songs, YMCA, Electric Slide, and lots of swing, but not the usual Instanbul, Depeche Mode's Somebody, or U2's With or Without You that they played at all the stake dances I went to. I got to dance a cha-cha with a someone in the ward. First time in a long while.

I came back from babysitting my niece and nephews this last week and have been recuperating. We went swimming, played tons of games (I became a multi-millionaire with a husband and kids several times over in the game of LIFE), watched some movies, made playdoh, and went to piano lessons.

Lisa and I went to Bear Lake this weekend. We went canoeing on the gorgeous aquamarine lake and got sunburned. It was glorious fun. I'll post some pictures, maybe.

So there is a leak of a U2 press kit that might disappear anytime. It contains clips from the opening night concert. It does reveal that they still have trouble playing one of my favorite songs live: Breathe, which opens the concert. No clip of Moment of Surrender, which I did want to hear live to see what they did with it. A funny part comes when all the fans they interview afterwards show their very drunk appreciation of the concert.

The best part however is that at the beginning and the end of the video is a clip from what appears to be a new U2 song, and a very cool one at that. It is a soulful tune with a Moroccan beat. Lyrics begin at the end of the clip.

So U2 began their tour last night in Spain. Apparently, as usual, there were some glitches in their performances, but there was still some magic. I'm glad to see Bullet the Blue Sky off of their set list, but sad they did not retire With or Without You or Pride or Sunday Bloody Sunday. We'll have to see how it has morphed by next year when hopefully I will get to see them.
But their outfits were terrible. Witness.

Maybe a MJ tribute with an all white version of the famous jacket? Is it better than the plaid lumber jack shirt at the grammys?



Bono does not do too bad. He may be risky in almost every other way, but it is always basic black for him.



Adam?! I thought you always attracted girls because of your fashion sense, not dressed like girls who decided to cut off the bottom half of their early nineties sailor dress to emphasize the top half.
