Update: Okay, perhaps this is only funny when you have been sleep deprived by all your homework... He does a pretty mean Bono a la 1997, though.

I'm in love... again. The concert was AWESOME! I loved the energy-filled, newly-nuanced versions of Even Better Than the Real Thing, Until the End of the World, and Get on your Boots, and Miss Sarajevo. Amazing!

In fact Miss Sarajevo is such an amazing song, I'm going to post it here.

I was reminded of this reading when I stumbled upon something similar in this glorious treasure of remixes of U2's music. The apple fruitleg version of "I Still Haven't Found I'm Looking For" is hilarious. It takes a bit to get into it, but then it is similar and pretty funny.

Here is a trailer for a movie I definitely want to see. And here's to hoping the rating will be appropriate-those Irish and their love of colorful language.



I've read the book that it is based on and really enjoyed it.

I chose this new background because it reminded me of this.

I was able to set up the "classroom" for one of my sections and they are still figuring out the other one.

I saw the eye doctor yesterday and for the first time-since I was born probably-my eyesight had not become worse. Wahoo.

I saw this on awkward family photos (see link on side of blog) and maybe because of all the weddings I've been to lately, this struck me as extraordinarily funny. Why are they in a tub? Who would do this?

So my out-of-town family has mostly returned home and now I have to crack down on my major long to-do list. In the mean time, here is the best new U2 song yet: Every Breaking Wave.

New U2 song that came out with the concert DVD they just released.

Awesome!!! My style of U2. I hope much of the new album is like this!

I thought it was funny for the most part.

I went to flaming gorge yesterday and it was awesome. We hiked on a trail and the fishermen all thought we were crazy for hiking in the direction of the storm.

Sad news this morning. Bono had emergency back surgery. The Salt Lake concert is postponed until they don't know when. They were going to be here starting Tuesday!!!! I could have stalked them for over a week!!!! Of course all the best to Bono and I hope he recovers well, but, selfishly, I could have stalked them:)

One of my favorite U2 sites does an annual survey. The results showed that over 70% of U2 fans have had a dream with U2 in it. I guess I'm not that weird:)
Well okay, most of them had dreams about U2 performing a concert for them, and while I have had those, I bet most people don't have dreams of babysitting Bono's kids. Okay, I'm a weirdo.

MI-5 did an episode on England signing an aid agreement with Africa. The would-be PM of the show openly declares that he signed merely to get a healthy bit of good PR and to "get aging rock stars off the government's back." Go Bono. Hilarious.

I contributed something to Wikipedia today. I added that U2 makes reference to The Picture of Dorian Gray on the page for that book. This is the second time I have added something to Wikipedia. My other contribution was a portion of the biography of basic writing pioneer Mina Shaughnessy. It was fun to do. After three years there has only been minimal changes to the Shaughnessy page that my graduate class did. I can't say the same for the unverified allusion that Bono makes to the novel. It is my suspicion that he is alluding to it, but I can't back it up and we know how big Wikipedia is on that.

Since it is the day after the celebration of all things Irish, I thought I would join the fun. Since for me Irish=U2, St. Patrick's day is pretty much U2 day for me. But since when have I ever needed an excuse to post anything having to do with U2?

It's official-I'm going to see U2 on June 3rd at the Rice-Eccles stadium. I'm excited! I thought this clip might be appropriate to the occasion.

This is a U2 tribute band playing one of the songs that U2 has never played live; it also happens to be one of my favorite songs.



The singer does a great job imitating Bono. He must have seen Rattle and Hum like a thousand times.

I took a break from reading a Hawthorne biography to watch a few videos:) The Corrs and Bono do a couple of covers and I, of course, like them.

And for kicks, I really like a couple Fleetwood Mac songs and the Corrs cover Dreams and it is a dance version, pretty cool cover.

U2 has posted their Los Angeles concert online and anyone can watch it. Wahoo.
Bono is still pretty much a spaz. I still argue that they butcher one of my favorite songs Breathe (the opening song) when they play it live, but Get on your Boots is awesome live.
They also posted dates for their North America tour, hopefully just some of it because Salt Lake is not on the list. I guess that just means I will have to move to Seattle:)

So there is a leak of a U2 press kit that might disappear anytime. It contains clips from the opening night concert. It does reveal that they still have trouble playing one of my favorite songs live: Breathe, which opens the concert. No clip of Moment of Surrender, which I did want to hear live to see what they did with it. A funny part comes when all the fans they interview afterwards show their very drunk appreciation of the concert.

The best part however is that at the beginning and the end of the video is a clip from what appears to be a new U2 song, and a very cool one at that. It is a soulful tune with a Moroccan beat. Lyrics begin at the end of the clip.

So U2 began their tour last night in Spain. Apparently, as usual, there were some glitches in their performances, but there was still some magic. I'm glad to see Bullet the Blue Sky off of their set list, but sad they did not retire With or Without You or Pride or Sunday Bloody Sunday. We'll have to see how it has morphed by next year when hopefully I will get to see them.
But their outfits were terrible. Witness.

Maybe a MJ tribute with an all white version of the famous jacket? Is it better than the plaid lumber jack shirt at the grammys?



Bono does not do too bad. He may be risky in almost every other way, but it is always basic black for him.



Adam?! I thought you always attracted girls because of your fashion sense, not dressed like girls who decided to cut off the bottom half of their early nineties sailor dress to emphasize the top half.
