My friend let me know about this and I had to post it. I am a huge fan of all the noise of Irish dancing-I even took an Irish dance class at BYU, but I could never stand Michael Flatley, aka Lord of the Dance. In honor of him... (so well deserved):

Here is a dance number from Sweet Charity that is so cool. It is some great Bob Fosse mixed with popular sixties moves, and as my American Humanities professor said, "You can't keep your eyes off of her." Her moves are amazing (though I have a feeling he was referring to something else).

I can't remember who showed me this oh so long ago, but this is pretty funny. I didn't know Christopher Walken could dance. Apparently he was in quite a lot of musicals in his day.

As mentioned previously, Mikhail Baryshnikov is one of my favorite dancers. But I also love tap dance. This movie was cheesy (it had its place), but I find it cool/hilarious that the two were put together. The first version of Step Up (I haven't seen it), if you will.





I find this clip particularly funny watching the different moves that each of them are good at and then watching the other person do the same moves.

I recently found out that "Cool" from West Side Story is said to be the best number from a musical ever. I agree, so here it is.



I also wanted to include the dance at the gym, another great number.

And yes, they do take themselves too seriously (and he has a way scary costume), but that comes with the territory of ballet.

I have always liked the choreographer Edouard Locke since I saw a bit on Inspirations about five years ago. I decided to look him on youtube and lo and behold-AMAZING. This is ballet I love! Not only is the choreography amazing, but his film direction is too (though some might call it pompously didactic).
