So the new U2 single is being played all day by this page from their official site. If you liked "Vertigo" (not my favorite), then you'll probably like this one. Good message overall, but I am still unsure of the delivery.

Oh and here's a performance of them playing at the pre-inaguration concert.

Just ignore the goatee that is heavy on the mustache which from a distance makes him look like a certain German leader who did not fight for the rights of other races. Obama doesn't look like he's having that great a time. And Jen, though this may be a little bit like Yanni playing at the acropolis, I can only comfort myself with the fact that they didn't choose the locale. I just wonder what Abraham Lincoln would think of these rock stars playing on the steps. It is so strange to see his statue behind them.

Interesting Indeed. A couple of things I noticed and I'm sure you did too. First, Bono corrected his account of the Assasination of MLK. He distinctly sang "early evening". Second, he totally can't sing, however in his defense, it's gotta be freezing cold. Third, he cant quit grinning between songs and it's endearingly genuine. You are right, the shadow he has goin on is a problem. It looks like he ate chocolate cake and didnt wipe his lip. I am more ok with them singing at the Lincoln Memorial than i am with Yanni singing at the Acropolis, because atleast there are logical historical connections between the location and what they are momorializing and celebrating. I still refuse to find a connection between the cradle of Western Civilization and Intellectualism and Yanni, although Yanni too had a disturbing moustache situation. Finally, I think Obama looks more sober than disinterested. He looks like he is turning a lot of things over in his head and also feeling the weight of the mantel of history and hope of a country Wow, my comment is longer than your blog! I'll stop now. Happy Inauguration!

Indeed sober. I think he had a lot more on his mind than being totally enthralled in U2 singing. His speech today laid out part of what he was mulling over I'm sure. Maybe he was even running over his speech in his head.

I'll have to check and see if the song is available elsewhere. (It says it's no longer available due to copyright claims by HBO.) I saw part of it on the news, but wanted to see the whole thing. Oh well. I'm very interested to see his 'stache.

I still think I don't like it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not baggin' U2 forever here, just saying I don't think it'll be a favorite. Jen, did you expect any less? "Freedom has a scent..."

I've looked to find another source for the video and I can't. Don't worry; it wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but apparently some people in Ireland are really ruffled that he said he and the band was from the northside of Dublin. www.atu2.com has a couple of articles showing both sides of the debate. Pretty interesting.
