I did some family history today. I have quite a few ancestors from Ohio and Kentucky from around the time and place of the second great awakening and the camp revival meetings that I wrote a paper about last semester. Some of my ancestors are from just a little further beyond Concord around the time of Emerson and Hawthorne. It would be interesting to know if my ancestors had heard of them, read or bought any of Hawthorne's works, or seen any of Emerson's lectures, and here I am doing a thesis on Hawthorne.
